Not only am I an aspiring entrepreneur but I am also an avid online shopper. One thing I always check for, before I purchase, is digital coupons and coupon codes. My favorite coupon code site being RetailMeNot.com where they have coupon codes for online use and printable coupons for in-store use. I’m obviously not the only online shopper looking for good deals. According to Nielson Online, digital coupons are gaining in popularity.
Visitors to online coupon sites increased 42 percent from December 2007 to December 2008. And while an increase in visitors usually leads to a decrease in average time per person, in this case time spent is also up by 28 percent year-over-year, indicating that visitors are more thoroughly engaged.
If your business is not taking advantage of this opportunity to drive more sales, you may be missing the boat. Not only will your loyal customers be eager to buy more, they also have the ability to easily share them with friends and family with the use of social sites like Twitter. Google AdWords is also seeing the value of offering digital coupons. Recently Google introduced templates for building customized online ads which display your coupon.

Could you embed a mobile tag into the ad?
Yes. Coupons are like lifesavers for me especially in tight budget. I also have found a lot of coupons in RetailMeNot. I have first used coupons in Xoom. Now, i make it a habit to look for coupons before buying.
You bring up some very valid points…
I’m sure there are many entrepreneurs out there that haven’t ever considered using a coupon to drive purchasers to their sites.

Julie you are right. Other entrepreneurs must consider adding coupons as part of their strategy in gaining more sales to their business.
