Qualities To Look For In A Good Logo

» by in: Marketing

Not every business has to have a designated logo but it does help to define your brand.  Logos are a good way to help your business products and/or services stand out.  Let’s face it, everyone remembers a good logo.  Take for instance McDonald’s golden arches.  Everyone recognizes the iconic logo and it has stood the test of time.  It’s simple and it can stand alone even without text.

So, what traits should you look for in a good logo design?  Marcia Simmons, editor of Small Business Marketing Guide, talks about the qualities to look for in her article, What Makes a Good Logo?.  A logo can say a lot about your business.

I’m not looking for a work of art on your business card or website. However, when I see a company representing itself with hopelessly out-of-date or unprofessional-looking materials, it takes a lot of convincing to show me that is the only part of the business that is hopelessly out-of-date and unprofessional. And that is not a good position for a business to be in. Get this image thing out of the way the right way, so you can concentrate on providing good service and increasing your sales.

But what about the saying that goes: “Don’t judge a book by its cover”? Lol. Just kidding Amanda!

Marcia is right. Every single detail we act/say/share/ about our business reflects our business. Every corner in the business must be taken with high regards even if you think — “Oh, oh! It’s just a logo. What the heck it can do to my business?”

That’s exactly why I went to professional cartoonists and artists when I wanted a logotype and banner for my EGO blog. Please feel free to visit my blog and read my post on how the logotype and banner came all about.

Absolutely true! Logo design should be given careful consideration, as it can make or break a business’ reputation. Check out some of the logos Miles Technologies has designed for customers.

    Hey Amanda,
I completely agree with you that logos define brands. It gives a identification mark to the product and the company as well. Today we can see that even small business owners are making good logos for their companies. A good logo differentiate your company from the competitors and customer may easily identify.
