After the trials and tribulations of this past year, consumers are looking to end this economically challenged year on a lighter note. They want you to make them laugh. How? By sending your customers and clients humorous holiday cards.
According to a recent survey conducted by Hallmark Business Expressions and Harris Interactive, 62% of the surveyed consumers prefer humorous holiday cards from companies they do business with. More than 2,300 consumers participated in this survey. (More about the survey here.)
I think these survey results indicate that even though times are tough, consumers are looking for light hearted business communications. They don’t want to be reminded of their financial woes. Businesses should lose their rough and serious edge just enough to connect with customers on a more personal level. Letting your personality shine through can have a positive impact on your business.
I know from my own experience, boring corporate business cards leave no impact on me as a consumer. It’s thrown away instantly and quickly forgotten. Receiving a humorous card would make me take notice and I’d be more likely to keep it and show it to others.
After hearing these survey results, are you more likely to consider sending humorous cards this season?

Amanda: I agree with you. I wonder if Mark Anderson (Andertoons) and Ted Goff (Mostly Business) have holiday cards.
I will send out a personalized video email message during the holiday season.
