It seems like video content is growing in popularity lately and I’ve seen it used in some really unique ways. So much so that I’ve often been tempted to start adding video content on my other blog. But alas, I don’t have a video camera yet and I’m not exactly sure of the whole process. So I find myself wondering – would making and posting videos to my website really be worth my trouble?
According to an article that I came across on BizSugar.com, adding video content does have its benefits. Not only does it help you engage your readers more but it also can help you in your search engine ranking. I’m not a fan of video – it’s too hard to scan like you can with text. But I know a lot of readers really like it.
With cheap cameras like the Flip, and easy editing software it’s not hard. You can upload the videos to Youtube for hosting, and then embed the video in your website (there are several WordPress plugins for that).
It’s even easier if you want to record a tutorial or something of onscreen activity. jingproject.com provides free software that lets you record these videos.
Like any content, video content has to be on-point and relevant…and look good. Video content for the sake of video content that doesn’t look good will do more harm to your business’ brand than good. That is, I wouldn’t post video content that didn’t enhance the brand visually.
I’ve always believe that adding video is the way to go. There’s a little known secret about video that is soon to spread like wildfire and that is that videos seem to get posted on google faster than articles. They seem to get rank faster also. I will invest in a camera ASAP.Thanks for he information. Great! article.
