Advantages And Disadvantages Of Twitter Vs Facebook

By now we all realize that Facebook and Twitter can have some advantages in marketing our small businesses.  Maybe you’ve already taken the leap into using one of these social sites to promote your business or maybe you haven’t.  If you haven’t jumped onto the social networking bandwagon yet, it’s probably because you can’t quite weigh whether it’s worth the effort or not.

advantages and disadvantages of twitter and facebook

So I’m here today sharing with you an article I recently came across that gives a good overview of both the pros and cons of using Twitter and Facebook.  I liked this article because it didn’t just say how wonderful both sites are, like most other articles do.  It gives you an honest look at some negatives you should consider also.

So if you’re still saying to yourself, “Hmm, should I or shouldn’t I?”, then I’d encourage you to really take a peak at “Should I Use Facebook or Twitter“.  I think you’ll find some really good points and possibly be able to contribute some of your thoughts on the subject that may not have been mentioned.

Digital social networking has become a virulent and contagious disease. Computers and handphones are tools not a toys. Freedom of speech only has value if and when you have something really important to say. What you had for lunch isn’t. I wish more people would learn the importance of permutated thought and selective speech and learn and appreciate the virtues of being quiet. Very very quiet. Like me now. Shhhh. Listen. Can you hear that? It’s Silence. Nice isn’t it? Thank you. Goodnight.

Twitter and Facebook are two very different applications. I doubt I could choose one over the other. What we need here are ways to make the two better compliment each other.

Indeed Facebook and twitter both have their own set of advantages and disadvantages. Above all, both are highly addictive especially Facebook. For example if you have decided to concentrate on your work but after a minute or so you’ll end up going to your Facebook or twitter page writing about how miserably you have failed to study or work because how tempted you were to visit your page. So true! :D

I believe that in order to be effective in Social Media, one must be in the 4 major areas. (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Blogs) Facebook works very well for businesses targeting a local area, Twitter is great for getting in that valued “impression” blogging establishes your credibility in your field and nothing is better than LinkedIn for creating those networking contacts. Used together they establish your company’s “voice” and worth in the virtual world. These channels are essential when used correctly, become vehicles of communication.
