Ideally we’d all love to start our small businesses with unlimited funds but that’s a very unrealistic dream. Suddenly you wake up and realize that you have a very tiny budget to get your business off of the ground. Then you start scurrying around trying to make the most of your small start-up budget.
If this scenario sounds like something you may be experiencing right now, then you’re in luck. I’ve got just the right podcast interview for you to listen to. It’s a 30 minute conversation between Brent Leary and Bobbye Brooks & Tonilee Adamson, Co-Founders of Media 4 Women Enterprises.
Bobbye Brooks & Tonilee Adamson are entrepreneurs with a desire to help people learn how to start and grow a successful business – particularly women. Media 4 Women has grown from a small start-up company to a nationwide business, servicing every type of industry from the new entrepreneur to the large corporation.
In this edition of Small Business Trends Radio, Brent interviews both Bobbye and Tonilee on their thoughts and tips on how to start a small business on a shoestring budget. Hear what they have to say about launching a business with only $5,000 now.

Hi Amanda!
I loved reading this post. Very inspiring! It’s great to know that so many women made it so big, it’s stories like these that motivate people to do so much better in life and gives a lesson to never give up. Thank you so much for sharing this!
Thank you very much for this info, my wife is just starting a business, luckily she got herself a partner, hopefully this will be useful for both of us.
It is encouraging to hear stories of those who had to start small but have grown into large successful businesses. There are so many decisions to make when you are running your own business it can be be overwhelming but definitely possible.
Ha ha, that’s what I am doing. Starting a business on a small budget. It comes down to doing triage between the must-haves, the should-haves and the nice-to-haves. Get used to it- the nice-to-haves are a long way off.
Every large corporation started as a small business. Starting a business is just like planting a seed. You need to give it time, water and take care of it as it grows!
I just wrote the first article in a series about developing creative ideas called “Sane People with Insane Ideas: Creative Thinking I.” Please check it out and don’t forget to link and pass it on if you enjoy it and can’t wait for the rest of the series to come out!

I have started most of my small businesses with little or no budget, I was able to leverage my contact and connections to get things going. Just because you don’t have a budget, doesn’t mean you can’t get things started. A large part of business is managing your contacts and seeing how they can help you grow your business.
Awww – the piggy bank looks so sad! Kind of like mine at home. It’s good to know that things can still be done on a smaller budget, though, thanks for the advice!!
