Can Pinterest Really Boost Your Site Traffic?

PinterestHave you discovered Pinterest yet?  No, well let me tell you a bit about it.  I myself didn’t know it existed until a few weeks ago when it started popping up in my traffic stats for my personal recipe blog.

Pinterest is a social sharing site where users “pin” pictures, of interesting things they come across online, onto their virtual pinboard.  Others can browse pinboards and discover new items of interest.

Let me just say that I have been amazed at how much traffic Pinterest has already driven to my personal recipe blog.  One recipe alone has over 7,000 pins so far, whoa!  And I’ve been watching the frequency that Pinterest shows up in my stats increasingly grow as their site gets more popular.  So, I can tell you first hand that it does drive valuable traffic.

Now, I do think that the kinds of sites that can benefit from Pinterest can be limited.  For those small businesses who have products to showcase, I think it could really provide a nice traffic boost. As Create Hype points out in their own Pinterest article, vibrant and stimulating pictures will create the most buzz.  You’ve got to have something exciting for people to visually be interested enough to share with others.

So I’m curious, how many of you already know about Pinterest?  And for those of you who do, are you currently pinning favorites to your pinboard?  Head on over to Create Hype for more tips on making use of Pinterest to help drive traffic.

    Amanda,

I got reminded about Pinerest after I listened to an episode of The Social Hour podcast with Amber Mac & Sarah Lane. I have added it to my Chrome browser, but I must admit that I haven’t used it so much yet.

I am thinking of using it for my interests, e.g., tea and chile pepper.

I’ll try come back and let you know how successful it is.

    Thanks again.
